Boek Openbaring §12, Geestelijke Oorlog: Zeventig Jaarweken voor het Joodse Volk, Daniël §9

Shalom!
^ As a help to understand the twelfth chapter of Revelation, Daniel's prophecy of the year-weeks is reviewed.
Prayer of them who are determined in their mind not to defile themselves (Dan. 1:8), Bert

¤ About 605/606/616 BC the young Daniel was one of the first ones to be exiled to Babylon (Dan. 1:1-4).
There he became the king's counselor, prophet, supreme ruler of the regions and wise men, etc. And in the same way he was allowed to continue after the army of Media and Persia had conquered Babel (Dan. 1-8).
¤ After living in exile for almost 70 years, he realized that the prophet Jeremiah had prophesied that being in ruins of Jerusalem was to last seventy years. On this base he began to pray and confess the sins of the people (Dan. 9:1-20).
Thus came the angel of God, who gave him the word of the seventy year-weeks (Dan. 9:20-27), Dan. 9:24-27, <“…. Seventy weeks/sevens are determined for your people and for your holy city, to finish transgression,1) and to make an end of sins,2) and to make reconciliation for iniquity,3) and to bring in everlasting righteousness,4) and to seal up vision and prophet,5) and to anoint the Most Holy.6) 25. And know therefore and understand: From the going forth of the word to restore and to build Jerusalem until the Messiah, the Prince, {there will be} seven weeks/sevens [The first stage of Jerusalem]. And sixty-two weeks/sevens, it will be built again. And with street and trench, and in times of distress. [The second stage.] 26. And after the sixty-two weeks/sevens the Messiah will be cut off, and not for Himself. [One week/seven is left, in which Jesus Christ fulfills His ministry and tells, that He is God’s Temple, ‘the Most Holy’ (cf. John 2:19-21).] And the people of the prince who is to come, will destroy the city and the sanctuary; and his end {will be} with a flood. And unto the end {there will be} war; desolations {are} determined; 27. And he will strengthen a covenant with many {for} one week/seven, and {in} the midst of the week/seven he will cause Sacrifice and Offering to cease. [Rome, the attacking prince, the world power of that time, was in a covenant with many. Represented by the king Herodes, it tried already to kill Jesus just after His birth {Rev. 12:4b (3a§12)}.] And on the wing of abominations {will come} one who makes desolate, and even until that the consumption and what is determined, is poured on the one who makes desolate.”>
¤ The text has been translated on a word for word base. In addition, the beginning and end of the sentences have been, if possible, selected with help of the word ‘and’.
The Hebrew language does not speak of a ‘week’ but of a ‘7-number’, that is a period of 7 days or 7 years. Since Jeremiah had spoken of 70 years, it can be understood that is talked about periods of years.
